Krishimela 2025: A Big Moment for ChukkiMane

Krishimela 2025: A Big Moment for ChukkiMane

A New Chapter for Agri-Tourism in Karnataka

Krishimela 2025 wasn’t just another exhibition. It felt like the whole of Karnataka came together—farmers, researchers, students, families, entrepreneurs, and lakhs of curious visitors who wanted to understand where agriculture is heading. And this year, ChukkiMane had a special role to play.

We were invited to the University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK Bengaluru, not just to participate, but to speak on something close to our heart: building a successful Agri-Tourism model that farmers can actually replicate. The organisers also recognised ChukkiMane as one of the notable Agri-Tourism destinations in Karnataka this year—a proud moment for our entire team.

Why Agri-Tourism Matters Right Now

Farmers across Karnataka are looking for dependable ways to earn without abandoning agriculture. Agri-Tourism creates that bridge.

Adds New Income Stream

Creates steady, dignified income for farming families

Preserves Rural Culture

Protects traditional food, culture, and farming practices

Creates Rural Jobs

Employment opportunities for youth and women in villages

Builds Awareness

Educates urban visitors about farming and sustainability

Agri-Tourism is no longer an "alternative." It's becoming a key rural opportunity.

ChukkiMane's Journey: From One Idea to a Working Model

ChukkiMane’s story resonated with the audience because it’s real. Built slowly, thoughtfully, and with the community, it showed farmers what’s possible.

1

Start with What You Have

You don't need a large resort. Even 2–3 rooms, open fields, and simple farm activities are enough to begin.

2

Make it Authentic

Visitors love real farm life—milking cows, cooking on firewood, nature walks, bullock cart rides, bird watching, and traditional food.

3

Train Your Team

Hospitality, safety, food hygiene, and communication are essential. Many farmers overlook this.

4

Follow Basic Regulations

Registration under Karnataka Tourism Policy, safety standards, and cleanliness build trust and qualify you for government support.

5

Focus on Marketing

A simple website, good photos, visitor reviews, and consistent social media matter more than many expect.

6

Build for the Long Term

Every year, enhance experiences, add new activities, and partner with schools or organisations. Growth is steady and sustainable.

The ChukkiMane method proved that Agri-Tourism can be both meaningful and financially viable—without losing the soul of farming.

What Opportunities Are Opening Up for Farmers?

The presentation at Krishimela highlighted several possibilities for Karnataka farmers

Day Visits & Farm Tours

Families, schools, and corporates are actively looking for nature-based experiences.

Farm-Stay Experiences

Even 2–5 rooms can generate steady income when paired with activities.

Workshops & Learning Programs

Students want to learn about soil, crops, biodiversity, and food.

Local Food & Farm-to-Plate Dining

Traditional vegetarian meals and millet-based menus are big attractions.

Value-Added Product Sales

Jaggery, honey, millets, crafts, and organic vegetables—all find buyers easily onsite.

Corporate & Wellness Retreats

More companies are choosing rural spaces for team outings and wellbeing activities.

Eco-education for Children

Parents want their kids to understand nature, food, and farming.

Karnataka's geography—plains, hills, plantations, river valleys—makes the possibilities even stronger.
